How to Send Text Messages to Contacts
Hello! In this guide, you’ll learn how to send a text message to a contact using text templates in LeadCenter.ai.
This feature allows you to quickly send personalized SMS or MMS messages to your clients directly from their contact record, while saving time and maintaining consistency across your communications.
1. Accessing the Contact Profile
- Log in to LeadCenter.ai.
- Use the Global Search bar at the top to find the contact you want to message.
- You can search by name, email, or phone number.
- Click on the contact’s name in the results to open their Contact Details page.
2. Opening the Text Message Section
Once you’re on the contact’s profile:
- Scroll down the left-hand Contact Details menu.
- Click on Text Messages.
- If this is your first time messaging the contact, you’ll see a blank conversation window.
- Click Send Text to start composing a message.
Alternatively, you can also send a message from the Actions Menu:
- Click Actions → Send Text to open the same message window.
3. Composing and Customizing the Message
In the text message window, you’ll see several options:
- From Number: Select the phone number you want to send the message from (if your account has multiple).
- To Number: Verify or update the recipient’s number if needed.
- Message Field: Type your custom message directly here.
Using Text Templates
Instead of typing a new message each time, you can use a saved text template:
- Click the Template Icon (the small page or dropdown icon).
- Choose a template from the list — for example, “Appointment Reminder” or “Client Follow-up.”
- The system will automatically fill the message field with the template text.
- If the template includes short codes, LeadCenter will replace them with the contact’s actual information (e.g., their first name or appointment date).
4. Sending Multimedia (MMS) Messages
To include an image, document, or other media in your message:
- Click Choose File.
- Upload your file (for example, a PDF brochure, event flyer, or image).
- The system will automatically send the message as an MMS instead of a plain SMS.
5. Previewing and Sending the Message
Before sending your message, you can preview it to ensure accuracy:
- Click Preview to see exactly how the recipient will view the message.
If everything looks correct:
- Click Send to deliver the message instantly to the contact.
Once sent, the message will appear in the conversation history under the Text Messages tab for future reference.
