How to Set Up Marketing Sources and Campaigns
Hello, my name is Chris. In this article, you'll learn about marketing sources in LeadCenter — one of the platform’s key features that helps you automate lead capture and attribute leads to the correct marketing channels or campaigns.
Overview of Marketing Sources
LeadCenter automatically captures leads from multiple marketing channels, eliminating the need for manual data entry.
Each lead is instantly attributed to its correct source or campaign, allowing you to:
- Track where your leads come from
- Receive real-time notifications
- Focus on converting leads into customers
Captured leads are tracked in reports to measure key performance metrics such as:
- ROI (Return on Investment)
- Customer Acquisition Costs
Viewing Marketing Data
When you log into the Marketing Dashboard, LeadCenter displays all leads captured during the selected time period.
For each lead, you’ll see:
- Source / Campaign
- Pipeline Stage
- Medium used to capture the lead
This gives you a clear snapshot of your marketing performance in one place.
Accessing Sources and Campaigns
To manage your sources and campaigns:
- Go to the Marketing Dashboard.
- Click Sources and Campaigns from the green menu on the left.
This opens the Sources and Campaigns page.
If you need assistance, click the Help icon in the top-right corner for guidance.
Adding a New Source or Campaign
To add a new source or campaign:
- Click the green Add button.
- Define the source details or campaign settings.
By default, LeadCenter includes a standard set of sources when your account is first created, but you can always:
- Add new sources or campaigns
- Modify existing ones as your marketing strategy evolves
Organizing Sources and Campaigns
In LeadCenter, you can:
- Create a Source (e.g., Google Ads, Radio Show, Email Marketing)
- Build multiple campaigns under each source
This structure is ideal for firms running multi-channel campaigns across several platforms.
When you create a source or campaign, you can assign it to forms, events, or phone numbers, ensuring every captured lead is correctly linked.
Example:
If a virtual number or email redirect is linked to a campaign, it appears directly in that campaign’s row. You can also view:
- Active Contacts
- Deleted Contacts
- Spam Leads
Editing an Existing Source or Campaign
To edit a campaign:
- Click the three dots next to the campaign.
- Select Edit.
From here, you can:
- Update the name, description, start date, and end date
- Mark the campaign as active or inactive
- Assign a color and icon for easy identification
- Assign a virtual phone number
You’ll also see everything linked to that source, including:
- Events
- Form Submissions
- Text Campaigns
- Text Keywords
- Associated Workflows
This gives you full visibility over all related marketing touchpoints.
Creating a New Parent Source
When creating a new source or campaign:
- Click the Add button.
- Leave the Parent Source field empty to make it a top-level source.
Example:
- Name: TV Houston
- Description: TV Ads in Houston
- Add a start and end date (optional)
- Choose whether it’s active
- Select a color and icon (e.g., blue theme with a TV icon)
- Click Save Changes
You can now assign a phone number to the campaign.
When someone calls that number, LeadCenter automatically:
- Creates a lead
- Attributes it to the correct campaign
Supported Lead Capture Methods
LeadCenter supports multiple lead capture mediums, including:
- Email Forwards
- Virtual Phone Numbers (redirecting to your office)
- Chat
- Website Form Submissions
- Event Registrations
You can also capture leads through:
- Embedded LeadCenter Forms on your website
- Third-party platforms like LeadJig, LeadingResponse, Financial Seminar Services, and BigMarker
- Zapier integrations
- CSV uploads
- Lead marketplaces that serve financial advisors
Creating a Child Campaign
To create a campaign under an existing source:
- Click Add Source or Campaign.
- Select the Parent Source (e.g., Google Ads).
- Enter the Campaign Name (e.g., Google Search).
- Add a description, like Financial Advisor Search.
- Enter start and end dates, or leave blank if ongoing.
- Choose a color and icon (e.g., red color with Google icon).
- Click Save.
The campaign will now appear under the Google Ads source.
When you click the parent source, you’ll see all associated campaigns listed beneath it.
Wrapping Up
That’s how you create and manage marketing sources and campaigns in LeadCenter.
This setup allows you to:
- Automate lead attribution
- Measure campaign ROI
- Centralize marketing data
- Connect every lead to the correct marketing touchpoint
Thank you!
