How to Use Tags for Better Organization
Hello! In this guide, you’ll learn how to create, apply, and manage contact tags in LeadCenter.ai.
Tags are a simple but powerful way to organize, categorize, and segment your contacts across different LeadCenter modules — including sales, marketing, and reporting.
1. What Are Tags?
Tags are descriptive keywords that you can assign to contact records to group them by shared characteristics.
They’re non-hierarchical, meaning there’s no parent-child structure — you can apply multiple tags freely to any contact.
Examples of tags:
Hot Lead
Cold Lead
Insurance Prospect
High Income
Seminar Attendee
Tags are used in:
- Email campaigns
- SMS marketing campaigns
- Sales Dashboard and Contact Management Dashboard filters
- Reports and segment filters
Using tags helps you quickly find, segment, and target contacts based on specific attributes or behaviors.
2. Viewing Tags in LeadCenter
You can view tags from several locations within the platform:
- Sales Dashboard:
Tagged contacts display a small tag icon next to their name. Hovering over it shows the tags applied to that contact. - Contact Page:
- Open any contact record.
- Under the Stages section, you’ll see all tags associated with that contact.
- You can edit tags directly from here by adding or removing them.
- Tags Section:
Scrolling further down on the contact page reveals a dedicated Tags section, where you can manage tags for that specific contact.
When hovering over a tag, its name and description are displayed for clarity.
3. Managing Tags in Settings
To view, create, or edit all tags in your system:
- Click your name in the upper-right corner.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Contact Management.
- Click Tags.
This opens the Tags Management Page, where you can:
- View all existing tags.
- Search for tags by name.
- Add new tags.
- Edit or delete existing tags.
4. Searching for Tags
To find a specific tag:
- Use the search bar at the top of the Tags page.
- Type the keyword — for example,
income
orcold
. - Press Enter.
- Matching tags (e.g., “income writer quote”) will appear instantly.
5. Creating a New Tag
To add a new tag:
- Click Add Tag.
- Enter a Tag Name — for example,
High Net Worth
. - Add a Description (optional) — e.g., “Clients with investable assets over $1M.”
- The description appears as a tooltip when you hover over the tag.
- Click Save to finalize.
Your new tag is now available for use across contacts, campaigns, and reports.
6. Editing or Deleting Tags
- To Edit:
From the Tags page, find the tag you wish to modify.
Click Edit, make your changes (to name or description), then Save. - To Delete:
Click Delete next to the tag.
Confirm the action, and it will be removed from the system.
Deleting a tag will also remove it from any contacts currently using it.
