AI Agents for Financial Advisors: Hand Off the Routine With Troy AI Agentic

October 20, 2026

Advisors have adopted AI fast. In Morningstar's 2026 advisor study, the share of advisors using no AI at all fell from 33% to 20% in a year, and 48% said AI has improved their day-to-day efficiency. Yet the same study found advisors still aren't getting their time back.

56% named administrative and operational work as a top barrier to the service they want to provide. Advisors spend 53% of their week on client work and would like to spend 63%, a gap of about four hours every week. As Morningstar's Joe Agostinelli put it, "AI is helping advisors run faster, but the treadmill is speeding up too."

The reason is simple. Most AI in advisory firms still waits to be asked: draft this email, summarize that meeting, answer this question. The routine that fills the week still falls on a person: sorting overdue tasks, chasing replies, deciding which contacts to call, preparing the weekly market update.

AI agents change that. Instead of answering one question at a time, an agent runs a repetitive workflow on a schedule and gets it done. That's what we built with Troy AI Agentic, now in beta inside LeadCenter: AI agents that run the repetitive, time-consuming work that eats your team's week, so your team can focus on client relationships.

What AI agents can do for an advisory firm

An AI agent is a set of standing instructions that runs on its own, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. Agents can help with work like:

  • Billing and reporting: calculating AUM fees and generating AUM reports.
  • Client service: identifying clients who may need to take required minimum distributions, and finding clients you haven't talked to in a while.
  • Advisors: finding emails that still need a reply and drafting each one, with a follow-up task.
  • Schedulers: picking pipeline contacts to move forward this month and drafting the outreach.
  • Marketing: drafting the weekly market update as an email campaign, ready for review.
  • Operations: sorting unfiled tasks into the right lists and rescheduling overdue work into open time.

Every firm divides the work differently, so start with the routine, not the job title. Ready-made templates cover the most common routines, and you can describe any other routine in plain English.

Why AI agents belong inside your CRM

Most AI agents can only see one tool. An email assistant sees your inbox. A note taker sees your meetings. But the routines that run an advisory firm cut across everything: who's overdue, who hasn't been contacted, which appointments are coming up, which campaign a contact came from.

Troy AI agents work inside LeadCenter, where your firm's marketing, scheduling, pipeline, client service, operations and financial accounts already live. That has three practical benefits:

  • Full context. An agent can work from contacts, pipeline, calendars, tasks, emails, texts and calls, campaigns and financial accounts in a single run.
  • Nothing to stitch together. There's no export, no spreadsheet and no integration to maintain between the agent and your data.
  • One set of controls. Agents follow the same permissions as your team, and every run is logged in the same system.

AI chat, workflows and agents: what's the difference?

If your firm already uses AI chat or workflow automation, here's where agents fit.

Workflows follow the rules you set. Agents work out what needs attention: which overdue task matters most, which contact to call first, which email still needs a reply.

How Troy AI agents work

Setting up an agent takes a few minutes, and you don't need to write prompts from scratch.

  1. Open Troy AI agents in the left menu of LeadCenter.
  2. Click Create agent and start from a template, or describe the job in plain English. You can also dictate it.
  3. Choose the owner, the schedule and whether to email the report when a run completes.
  4. Click Run test to see exactly what the agent will do.
  5. Click Save to put it on its schedule. Pause or resume it anytime.

Each run gets the work done, then leaves a short report of what the agent found and changed, with links to the contacts and tasks involved.

Your team stays in charge

Advisors want AI to handle the admin, not the judgment. In one 2026 survey, 93% said they want the final say over AI output. Troy AI agents are built that way.

  • They follow your permissions. An agent sees only what its owner can already access in LeadCenter. You can make an agent visible only to you.
  • Drafts wait for review. Agents draft emails and campaigns; they never send or publish a campaign on their own.
  • You test first. Run test shows exactly what an agent will do before it goes on a schedule.
  • Every run is logged. Each run's report lives in the agent's history, so you can see what it found and what it changed.
  • You can stop it anytime. Pause or resume any agent from its Actions menu.

A force multiplier for your team

The usual answer to a heavier workload has been to hire. AI agents offer another one: pair your people with agents that take on the routine, so your team spends its hours on clients and decisions. It's what advisors are asking for: 59% want their administrative work automated (Edward Jones, 2026).

Think of it as a force multiplier. A 5-person firm can deliver the output of 50. A 50-person firm, the output of 500. Your team stays the same size. What it can deliver doesn't. And because agents run for cents a day, you can grow without adding headcount.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to write prompts?

No. Start from a ready-made template, or describe the routine in plain English. You can also dictate it.

Does an agent send emails on its own?

No. Agents draft emails and campaigns and save them for your review. They never send or publish a campaign on their own.

Who can see my agents and their reports?

An agent works with its owner's permissions and sees only what that person can already access. Choose "Visible only to me" to keep an agent private. Reports appear in LeadCenter and, if you choose, by email.

What if an agent gets something wrong?

Run a test before you schedule it, so you see exactly what it will do. Every run is logged in the agent's history, and you can pause it anytime from its Actions menu.

See which routines your team could hand off

Troy AI Agentic is available now in beta for LeadCenter firms. Over the next 6 months it will take on more of the routine, and connections to SharePoint, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive are in progress so agents can use the information your team keeps outside the CRM.

Book a demo and we'll walk through your firm's routines and show you which ones Troy AI agents could take first.
